I am a neurologist and critical care specialist with expertise in the resuscitation and management of acute brain injured patients. I trained both in medicine and neurology and completed dual fellowships in critical care, vascular neurology and neuro-critical care.
Both of my clinical training and research have been funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (Columbia University, T-32 NS07153-24 and Specialized Program in Translational Research in Acute Stroke SPOTRIAS, P50NS049060), the American Heart Association (12CRP12050342), and Genentech Foundation (G-29902).
Recently, I co-chaired the 6th International Hypothermia and Temperature Management Symposium (IHTMS) in Philadelphia where we highlighted the importance of quality resuscitation post-cardiac arrest syndrome (POCAS).
Finally, as the Medical Director of the Neurocritical Care Program at Cooper Healthcare in New Jersey, I have been able to help with the implementation of point-of-care EEG (POC-EEG) at our affiliates and improve the quality of care of POCAS resuscitation in the ICU.
I am delighted to bring to you one aspect of the state-of the art management of POCAS in the ICU: recognition and treatment of non-convulsive status epilepticus in the early phase of resuscitation of POCAS.
